Its magnificent overlooking view of Davao's skyline during night time is truly wonderful and splendid! You will experience the colorful city lights right in front of your eyes! It has been known as one of the must-visit places here in Davao City.
Located at Shrine Hills, Matina, Davao City, Jack's Ridge holds an interesting historical past that is apparently visible within the resort which is intentionally preserved to mark its history.
Jack's Ridge! Oh, yeah!

Jack's Ridge Historical Past:

Jack's Ridge engraved history
The land on which Jack's Ridge now stand once formed part of the headquarter of the retreating Japanese forces towards the end of the World War II. The Americans had landed in Davao on May 1, 1945, forcing the Japanese to beat a path to Matina Hills where they had a commanding view of the Davao Gulf where the American ships were anchored. Fierce fighting soon erupted between the two forces, and as history shown us, the Japanese lost. Source: Jack's Ridge website.

Davao was under the sea before?
"Unbelievable as it may seem, the land you are standing on was under the sea millions of years ago. These taklobo shells right here at Jack's Ridge are silent witness to Davao's watery past."
Aside from these astounding pasts that lie within the place, it can also be perfect for holiday getaways, special occasions, family bonding, barkada trips, etc. If you are aiming either of these choices, you better visit the place at daytime if you don't wanna let your children lost, haha. However, if you are anticipating the sunset and Davao's city lights, late afternoon visit would be the perfect timing.

Jack's Ridge is relatively a place for fine dining with great view as well. If you have enough budget, you can dine among the available restaurants yet, their prices cost an arm and leg, I suppose (eyes roll). Choose among these restaurants that suits your taste and budget: Taklobo Restaurant, Kai's Bar & Grill and Karlo's Gourmet & Coffee

The best I could get :(
I had tried harder just to get a perfect photo for this awesome scenery yet, I ended up in disappointment. The camera was pretty blurred though it usually wasn't like that. My hands were trembling too. No matter how much I pressed the shutter, I just can't get enough. To make the matters worst, it was slightly raining that time (sigh)

The rain didn't last long and I was very thankful. Satiating our eyes with the fascinating scenery of Jack's Ridge was all we can do. It would be a lot better if we had enough budget that time but, that was an ambush trip, lol. What an impulse we had, hehe? It just came up in our mind "Jack's Ridge" and with just a snap, we found ourselves atop of Matina Hills, savoring the gorgeous look of the night.
